  • BE A PATRON | Anticipate Pictures

A QUALITY FILM IN THE CINEMA ONCE A MONTH, EVERY MONTH. THE ANTICIPATRON PROGRAMME **UPDATE (20 March 2020) Dear Anticipate Pictures followers, we are temporarily suspending our member's program due to the coronavirus pandemic. We miss you all greatly and look forward to welcoming you back to our screenings as soon as it is safe to do so. Be well, and do consider streaming our library titles to support us during this difficult time. ♥️ from the team at Anticipate. -- Dear Anticipate Pictures followers, It was nice to be able to see some of you again in November 2019, when I personally hosted the screenings of our films at the Singapore Writers Festival. Through conversations with both old and new faces, each encounter affirmed the reason why we do what we do, with the hope that our brand of cinema may touch your lives. While we have been blessed with partners such as The Projector and the Asian Film Archive regularly coming on board as exhibitor partners to present our films - thus alleviating the very heavy responsibility of running our own screenings - these SWF screenings also reminded us that when we don't exhibit our own films, we lose touch with the people who come to see our films. We realise we don't actually know you. We would like to rekindle this link, by hosting members-only screenings for our most loyal attendees. Together with two kind volunteers who are generously donating their time to help me coordinate this effort - Danielle and Kitty - we would like to realise our Anticipate cinephile community - you, the Anticipatron. As a trial for both you and us, we would start with just S$36 for the first 3 months in 2020. Come see a new AP film during the first weekend of each month, among other people like you who delight in discovering a new film gem, and who respect the cinema experience! I will present these members-only screenings and it will also be a wonderful opportunity for us to regularly meet and talk about movies after. I hope that you will see this as the most fully realised extension of the small things that we've been doing over the course of 2019 (e.g. Drink with a Film Distributor; ranty blogs on Facebook) to be closer to you, our dear audience. I wish you a wonderful rest of this year, and we hope to see you at our movies :) Sincerely, Vincent Quek Founder of Anticipate Pictures HOW TO JOIN : 01 Paynow $36 to our Anticipate Pictures UEN Number, 201624132C. 02 Take a screenshot of your transaction, and send it to anticipatron@gmail.com 03 You're done! Show your confirmation email at the screening, and we'll see you at the movies. :-) 1. For those who don't have PayNow but would still like to join, send an email to anticipatron@gmail.com with your name in the subject and the note "Payment At the Door". At the screening, you will pay S$36 in cash at the door. 2. For everyone, we will distribute personalised membership cards at the first screening. *Do mention your name on the PayNow transaction and the email address you used to send your screenshot from. We will check to see that we have received the S$36 on our end before admitting you. A confirmation email does not automatically grant you access. FAQ: Q: What am I paying for? A: This is a direct access pass that will guarantee a private screening of Anticipate film titles for paid members on Sat 4 Jan; Sat 1 Feb and Sat 21 March. This pass is only valid for Jan-March 2020, and is non-refundable. This price and the validity period does not change if you miss any one of our screenings. Q: What are the films presented? A: The first film to be presented on 4 Jan 2020 will be MONOS. The film for the following month will be announced at the end of the screening. Q: Are these the first time the films will be presented? A: Films screened won't be the official premieres in Singapore for the film, but will be early enough to coincide with the theatrical release or just before the latter. Q: What if I want to bring friends who are not Anticipatrons to these screenings? A: We will admit on a case-by-case basis depending on availability of seats. Prices for your +1 (and limited to just +1 to be fair to other Anticipatrons) will be a flat S$13.50, cash only at the door. If you are not able to make it for any reason, you may pass your membership card to a non-Anticipatron and we can admit them in your absence. Q: Are there food and drinks sold at the screenings? A: There are no food and drinks on sale at the venue before, during or after the screenings! Please bring your own bottled water. This is a venue restriction and is something we have no control over.

We're glad to have moderated a conversation with Boo Junfeng and Phoebe Pua, as they discussed the myriad ways in which filmmakers in the region are commenting and reacting to national, societal and cultural phenomena. COMING HOME — A REEL ROUNDTABLE JUNE 2020 The common path for the independent film typically passes through 4 distinct stages: production; festival/sales; distributor; exhibitor. Each stage functions as a cog in the wheel of the industry, working in tandem while facing strained pressures of each other's roles in an interdependent film ecology. In this roundtable, we joined various key players in the industry at The Substation to share strategies we apply in their own sectors in hopes of sparking an optimistic shift towards sustainable film practices. STREAM NOW: I DREAM OF SINGAPORE APRIL 2020 As part of fundraising efforts for Transient Workers Count Too - TWC2 during this COVID-19 crisis, we're hosting this independent Singapore title from Tiger Tiger Pictures on our VOD platform in collaboration with The Projector.
